German novelist. Her Aus guter Familie/Of Good Family 1895 was a penetrating
study of the problems of the contemporary woman. Her later novels, such as Ellen
von der Weiden 1900 and Liselotte von Reckling 1903, though artistic and skilfully
planned, were less successful.
