Abbt, Thomas

Abbt, Thomas (1738–1766)
German writer. Born at Ulm, he was a friend of Gotthold Lessing and Moses
Mendelssohn, and contributed to the Literaturbriefe, a literary weekly which
appeared 1759–65. He wrote Vom Tod furs Vaterland/On Death for the Fatherland
(1761) and Vom Verdienst/On Merit (1765).
