Doo-wop vocal group active in 1955, consisting of
Gene McDaniels, Wesley Devereaux, Will Barnes,
James Farmer, and Richard Beasley. Previously
known as the Sultans, the Admirals recorded for
King Records in Cincinnati; the releases were not
successful. After the group’s breakup, McDaniels
went on to a songwriting career.
